Sombreros, Longleat and Nuptials!

A mish mash of an update for you, I have a bunch of photos on my phone documenting the mundane and not so mundane events in Dan and my life so for your viewing pleasure here we are about to head off to a fancy hats required party.

The facial hair did not last long due to a warning of “prolonged inhalation of fibers not recommended”.

The weekend before last, Pam and George came to visit Dan and I.  We had a day trip out to Longleat, which is a huge safari park.  We had such a good time there, driving through the safari (seeing the monkeys, lions, tigers, deer, and wolves up close and personal).

The monkey part of the safari was a bit sketchy as we watched monkeys scaling vehicles to tear off bumper sticks, windshield wipers, whatever they could get their hands on (we emerged unscathed and saw cute little baby monkeys).

We also went on a boat cruise across a lake that contained some sea lions and hippos (so bizarre to see hippos chilling out in a lake in England).

Spotted deer, look at all that venison! 🙂

Creepy butterflies (yes, it’s weird, but I hate butterflies).

And this cute little guy was probably my favorite.

We also were able to walk around the country house, which is absolutely huge and decadent and occupied by the rather eccentric Marquess of Bath (who apparently has had affairs with over 70 women to whom he refers to as his “wifelets”).

My only shot of the house and I had my stupid finger in the corner (now it is happy sun because we actually had really gorgeous weather the day we went).

It was a really fun day and really neat as I’ve never been to any sort of safari park before.  We had a nice time visiting with George and Pam and enjoying the lovely weather (they jet off to Australia soon to even lovelier weather!).

Now this past weekend, Dan and I attended our friends, Jon and Ashley’s, highly anticipated wedding.  They were married at a beautiful historic church in Tarrant Monkton with an amazing reception afterwards at the pub called the Langton Arms.  We had such a good time, it was a beautiful wedding and the day was just perfect (Dan’s best man speech seemed to go down well too! 🙂 ).

    Hi Mandy & Dan,
Your blog was neat – Jim & Michele & Jennie, Katie & Jade spent the weekend with us at the
lake. Fishing was good – We had a nice bass dinner on Sunday! We love you.

I really like your dress in the picture above, could you let me know where you got it from please?

    • Mandy says:

Hi Nikki, I bought it at Next (and the dress is their label), I purchased it at the beginning of July so I’m not sure if it is still being stocked there. Hope that helps! x
